The Diagnosis

CEA achieved 20-25% YoY engagement growth in 2025 with only a 0.4% spending increase. Remarkable results from a team that knows how to ship. But as the JD states: "these products have yet to operate with the unified strategy they need to reach their growth potential."

Each product succeeds individually. What is missing is the connective tissue. The system that turns a newsletter subscriber into a practitioner. Getting these products working as a system is the highest-leverage investment the new Head of Digital Product can make.

Key Product Principles I'd Apply

Products are a system, not a portfolio.

Value compounds when products are connected. Isolated products create isolated users. The first job is to build the connective tissue between what already exists.

Measure conversion, not just engagement.

The metric that matters is how many people move from one tier to the next, not how many people use each product in isolation. A 10% improvement in tier-to-tier conversion has more impact than a 30% increase in any single product's DAU.

Build for the user who isn't in the room.

The person most likely to become a high-impact EA in 5 years is someone who hasn't heard of EA yet. Products should be designed for them, not for existing community insiders.
